Archbishop Thabo Makgoba - Community Chest 80th Anniversary ‘Inter-Faith Service’ St George’s Cathedral
11 September 2008
Reading: 1 Thess 4:9-12
Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Community Chest of the Western Cape, it is a great privilege to be with you today, and join in celebrating your 80th anniversary.
Yours is a remarkable achievement, and I am glad to have this opportunity to pay tribute to one of the country’s oldest, and most impressive, philanthropic organisations.
I am also glad that it is an organisation which has longstanding and close links with the Anglican Church, especially in your early years – not least through Bishop Lavis, who was your longest-serving Chairman.
