May I speak in the name of God, who leads and guides his people.

Yesterday I talked about Jesus’ challenge to all of us, to follow him and live as trees that bear fruit, as houses built on the rock.

Today our readings continue this theme of God’s call, and God’s guiding.

We have just heard Jesus, at the Last Supper, telling his disciples of the coming of the Holy Spirit, as ‘Counsellor’, as this translation puts it.
