Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town Thabo Makgoba left on Tuesday for a week-long "pastoral visit" to Haiti, which was hit by a devastating earthquake in January, his office said.
More than 220 000 people died in the quake, and thousands are still housed in sprawling camps.
The office said in a statement that Makgoba would present a cheque for $15 000 donated by his parishioners in southern Africa, towards the diocese of Haiti?s relief and reconstruction work.
He would also discuss how further funds raised in southern Africa for Haiti might best be used.
